Everything you need to know to prepare for the perfect newborn session.

Welcoming a new baby is one of life's most extraordinary moments. A newborn photography session is your chance to preserve those fleeting first days forever — but a little preparation goes a long way toward making it smooth, comfortable, and magical.

Book Early

The ideal window for newborn photos is between 5 and 14 days old, when babies are still sleepy and curly. We recommend booking your session while you are still pregnant — around 28–32 weeks — to secure your preferred date and ensure we are ready to go as soon as your little one arrives.

Feed Before the Session

A well-fed baby is a sleepy, content baby — and sleepy, content babies make for the most beautiful newborn images. Try to feed your baby about 30 minutes before the session begins so they are full and settled when we start.

Keep Baby Warm

Our studio is kept warm — around 26–28°C — specifically for newborn sessions. Babies sleep more deeply when they are warm. You may want to dress in layers yourself so you stay comfortable while we work.

Be Patient

Newborn sessions take time — usually 2 to 3 hours. We work entirely at your baby's pace. There will be feeding breaks, nappy changes, and settling time. This is completely normal and expected. The best images often come after we have taken our time to settle baby into a deep sleep.

Bring What You Love

If you have a special outfit, heirloom blanket, or meaningful prop you would like to incorporate, bring it along. Personal touches make your images uniquely yours.

Most importantly, relax and enjoy the experience. You have just done something incredible — now let us capture it beautifully.
